NEW FOR 2009:
- Turn signals integrated into mirrors
- Exterior colours: Mercury Metallic now exclusive Pebble Beach edition colour; Smoky Granite Mica and Moonshell Mica added; Midnight Cherry discontinued
For 2009, the Lexus SC 430 convertible coupe is unchanged, with the exception of integrated turn signals in the mirrors, and colour changes. The 2009 Pebble Beach edition has also been added, with Mercury Metallic and Ecru Leather colour scheme, dark grey bird's-eye maple trim, Pebble Beach badges and unique 18-inch wheels.
The SC 430 uses a 4.3-litre V8 with six-speed automatic transmission and manual shift mode. It has a retractable aluminum roof that raises or lowers at the touch of a button, and includes an "auto" setting for open-air motoring on the climate control, which directs the air into two streams for when the top is down and the outside temperature is cool.
It comes in a single trim line and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, AM/FM/cassette/CD with wheel-mounted controls, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, ten-way power heated leather seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless entry, electronic analog gauges, auto up/down windows, wood and leather-wrapped wheel with power tilt and telescopic, cruise control, navigation system, garage door opener, driver and passenger knee airbags, first-aid kit, auto-dimming heated mirrors with integrated turn signals, water-repellent door glass, variable intermittent wipers, adaptive auto-levelling high intensity discharge headlamps, headlamp washers, and fog lamps.
The sole available option is the Pebble Beach package.
While it does have rear seats, the SC 430 is best considered a 2+2, with very roomy front seats and cramped rear positions. It's a beautiful vehicle that offers quick acceleration and a smooth ride, with the added benefit of a roof that drops for days when the sun is shining. The price drops considerably from the 2008 level.
